President George W. Bush

Four More Years!

"Dear Fire Fighters For Bush:"
Letter of the Week

Debra Burlingame

My brother was Capt. Chic Burlingame, (USNR, ret.), pilot of American Airlines flight 77, Pentagon attack, 9-11-01. I humbly ask you good folks to come to our website, www.911familiesforamerica.org and read the letter we have posted explaining who we are and why we support the president.

An Open Letter to America

"Three years ago, on the day that began as a beautiful September morning, 19 men and their sponsors carried out a brutal and devastating attack on our country, leaving 3,000 innocent men, women and children dead, including our loved ones. In those first agonizing hours, and for weeks and months afterward as we searched for word of their fate, we were aware that the shock and horror of that day was not ours alone. With a gratitude we could not yet express, we felt the strong and steady embrace of our fellow Americans. The words, “Never forget,” defiantly written in dust or humbly penned on makeshift memorials, were also permanently etched in our hearts. We will never forget your strength, your courage and your endless generosity.

We speak to you now in the same spirit that you spoke to us then, as Americans, united on behalf of our country...."

Recently, five 9/11 widows held a press conference to announce their support for Senator Kerry. These ladies have enjoyed a great deal of media attention in the last two years.

Although 195 9/11 family members have co-signed our letter, we can't get the mainstream media to report it.

We would like you and other 9/11 families to "stand with us" and sign the letter. We don't think five ladies who blame the president for their husbands' deaths should have more influence than thousands of other family members...but we don't know who and where they are. Please send our web address to everyone on your email list. To be clear: we want 9/11 families, friends of the lost and ALL AMERICANS who wish to stand with us to sign in.

Thank you for all you do, for all you have done since that terrible day, on behalf of us all. You will never know what your support these three years has meant to us all.

God bless,
Debra Burlingame, proud sister of an American patriot.

The heat is on, the race has begun, and the attacks are increasing. I have received a few emails recently from Bush haters; I can them, because they don’t really support Kerry, they just hate President Bush.

I believe it’s because his success scares them. Most are the standard hate mails that one receives, written like an eighth-grader stomping around in a temper tantrum.

Some TRY to be civil and converse with me on reasons why I would support Bush, then end the conversation with something like, "Well, he’s too stupid for me to vote for him, you Bushies are all alike!" What?? I guess I’m a Bushie.

I also got one from a Union guy saying that the IAFF knows we’re here and to “watch out!” Ok I’ll say it again, We’re not Firefighters against IAFF, we’re Firefighters for Bush!

It’s just unfortunate that the IAFF leadership decided to endorse a guy for their own political future, not for the future of Firefighters, and without polling it’s members.

What does this mean? It means it’s working. We’re getting through!! We’re being heard!

Another Note: There is a column from Ben Stein called Monday Night at Morton’s that was forwarded to me recently. It is worth reading: Monday Night at Morton's by Ben Stein

Last note for today: God Bless the men and women fighting to make my home safer. The pride I feel for our troops is beyond my capability to write about.

I salute you!

-Jay Reimer

I cannot believe the outpouring of support and the fire (ok it's a pun) in the hearts of the nation's firefighters to get the word out that most firefighters stand behind President Bush and not the IAFF.

Ten days in and +25,000 hits later, www.firefightersforbush.com is getting out there. The increase of hits per day is incredible. And YOU are the reason we are so popular. YOU are spreading the word and its working.

Just look at the guestbook and our Firefighters For Bush bulletin boards and you will see how people feel and how passionate they are. Sign in and let your voice be heard. Also visit our supporter' website for playing online slots.

So many people were writing me, I felt I had to write back to you and thank you for your support and effort.

Firefighters for Bush

On March 4, 2004, President Bush released the first television campaign ad of the season. It was a powerful, upbeat, forward-looking message of hope, containing images from his presidency and a vision of a better future. It was also attacked immediately in the press as "exploitative" because the President had included some brief images from 9/11 which featured the crumbled towers and weary firefighters.

IAFF president Harold Schaitberger joined the attack, claiming that the President was trying to "capitalize on the image of great heroics and a great tragedy." But other firefighters, incensed at the IAFF's statements, rallied around the President. Many of them turned to the web as a way to express their outrage at Schaitberger's remarks.

On March 10, 2004, one week to the day after Bush's ad aired and the IAFF attack, FirefightersForBush.com was unveiled. An all-volunteer effort by people who hadn't even known each other the week before, this site is the product of real-live, honest-to-God American Grassroots politics at its best.
